Hard to port!

Written by jan. Posted in Development

It’s been quiet around here… too quiet. I have a bad feeling about this…

Wait, don’t! We’ve just been really busy working on the game. Just to give you a quick update: Gijs has finished the improved animations, spiced up the buttons and drawn some lovely portraits for Marley, our new canine cast member.

Meanwhile, I’m porting the game code from Javascript to Haxe. This will allow us to build several versions of the game: Javascript or Flash for running in the browser, and native code for downloadable and (hopefully) mobile versions. The title of this post notwithstanding, porting to Haxe has actually been a very positive experience. Combined with NME (which reimplements the Flash API) it’s a great way to build multiplatform games.

When the port is done, you will be able to see the fruits of our labours as we enter the beta phase. Watch this space!

Progress on Together Alone is excellent! The in game things are going great and are looking pretty slick (if I say so myself). Besides that we are also still working some story stuff. That’s what this image is all about: story cards artwork. That’s from my side of things the biggest thing to finish. The rest is polish, polish and some more polish

Not to give any final release date but it does feel more and more like we are on the home stretch. Right now we are actually also starting on brainstorming about our new game. More about that soon!

San Francisco here we come?

Alright, so the Pokki 1UP Game Developer Contest deadline has passed. We entered  with our fully tweaked version of Together Alone and now all we can do is wait. On the 28th the first, second and third prize entries will get notified, with the actual official announcement at the Game Developers Conference 2012 in San Francisco. All the entries can be viewed at: http://www.pokki.com/1up/

In the meantime, we are hard at work on a sequel/bigger version of Together Alone. We’ll keep you posted!
